Part One: Packaging
I'm actually quite impressed with the packaging seeing as it's only a $2.99 product. The packaging is not much different than most liquid lipsticks, except for maybe that it feels like a cheaper plastic than the more expensive ones, but for the price, who cares?! The applicator itself takes a little getting used to, it's like a fat paddle, or like maybe a squished doe foot? It's hard to explain, but it does pickup quite a bit of product, though it was a little hard to get a clean line. I'll give packaging a 4 out of 5.
Can you tell by the picture that it's near V-Day??? |
Woah. I'm mean damn does this lipstick pack a huge punch of color. You want some bold ass red lips, this is the place to be, One swipe and wow, RED. The color is just a perfect blue based red, but it is not for the faint at heart, this is some serious boldness here. 5 out of 5 for Color.
Part Three: Formula
Here is where i'm torn, and it's the same place that always gives me pause when I try out a new liquid lipstick. There seem to be only two kinds: comfortable and tacky that transfers, or long lasting no transfer super dry. This one is the dry kind. The website claims: "These intense liquid lip colors are completely transfer-proof and last up to 8 hours – while moisturizing!" Okay, so it is intense, and it is transfer proof, and it does easily last 8 hours (if you stay away from oily foods) but it is NOT moisturizing. Not in the least, after a couple of hours you start to get what is known as the dreaded "Butthole" lips. Dry as a desert. Now if you don't mind throwing a gloss over the top of this, or just don't mind wearing drying lipstick, it would be fine, but this stuff is super dry. But, that depends on what you are looking for. You can kiss and drink and everything and this stuff isn't going anywhere! Also, it's worth noting that it dries VERY quickly so you have to work fast, and it doesn't really layer very well either. I'm going to give the formula a 3 out of 5 as I prefer a more comfortable to wear liquid lipstick, but when I need some long lasting color that packs a punch, I do pull this one out.
Final Verdict:
So this is not bar far a BAD lipstick, it's just not necessarily my favorite, but for a true liquid lipstick from the drugstore, and for only $2.99? Worth it! Also that punch of color it gives makes up for any dryness it causes.
4 out of 5 Lippies.
