March Lip Monthly Unboxing

Hello Lippie Lovers! I know I haven't been writing up a storm like my usual self, but It's purely because I haven't had any new lipstick that I was excited about reviewing lately. But I received my March Lip Monthly yesterday and I was excited to get it because I made the decision last month that if I wasn't impressed with this one, I was going to cancel. How did it go? Well, let's see...

Okay, so here is the card, and what it stated I received:

Now, according to this card I received a total of $42.49 worth of product. Now let's get into the product breakdown of what I received...

Camilla Lipstick and Matching Lip gloss: 
The color of these is beautiful, no doubt about that. They are a very Pink spring like color. I haven't actually put them on my lips yet, but they did swatch pretty nice and pigmented on my hand. However, here is where the problem lies. I usually always look up products online to make sure their claim of how much it costs is accurate, but I can't find this brand... Anywhere.

The other think I will note is that if you look at the packaging of the lipstick, they are trying very hard to achieve that M.A.C. bullet. Only they fail, miserably. Putting it next to my MAC lipstick, it feels cheap, Like dollar store cheap. It's only supposed to be $3 cheaper than MAC? Um, no.

EcoLips Tinted Balm:

This one is okay. Nothing really great about it, but nothing horrible about it either. Is it something I would buy for myself? No, probably not. It's also a very brown based tint, so it would be better for someone a bit more warm-toned than me.

Blush/Bronzer Duo:

Lip Monthly seems obsessed with my cheeks! It seems as though they are constantly giving me blush products! It's cool with me if you throw in a non lip item, but it doesn't have to be blush every single time. This one is actually really pretty though...

Though the bronzer is not a color I could bronze with, as nobody would believe my white skin would randomly be tanned in a few spots, so I gifted this over to my friend who is much more tan than I. I did look up this brand and they are sold at Ulta, and the swatches on my hand were beautiful. This is a tiny tin, but I did estimate that it would cost around $10.

Final Verdict:

Yes, I will be cancelling. I want products to try that I can buy in store or online. I'm not even sure if I want to do a full review on either the lipstick or the lipgloss because I don't like to review something that nobody can get their hands on! Either way, I think the concept is good, they just didn't really deliver for me. I wish ipsy would start a lip based bag, now that I would buy!

Review: Seraphine Botanicals Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Cream

Hello Lippie Lovers! Today I am reviewing a "lipstick" I received from my February Lip Monthly bag that I reviewed HERE. The reason I have lipstick in quotation marks is that the product actually calls this a lip and cheek tint, but this is straight up a liquid lipstick and I would never dream of putting this stuff on my cheeks. Well, maybe at 3 a.m. after a bottle of wine, but that's an entirely different story. I'll admit I've never heard of this brand, but I'm excited to to review the Seraphine Botanicals Lipstick in Cherry Cream.

Part One: Packaging

I think I'm starting to regret having this as a part to review. It seems like I can't think of anything new to say about the same packaging day in and day out. Either way, this comes in pretty standard liquid lipstick packaging, the only difference being that the container is short and squat rather than long and skinny (hey, it's like me!), and the doe foot applicator is a bit shorter. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. 4 out of 5.

Part Two: Color

When this stated that it was a lip and cheek tint, I was not expecting the color to be as bold as what was in the tube, so I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched this and it was a bold true red, just like in the tube. Man, this color is great, but I might be a little biased as I LOVE red lipstick. It is my favorite color to wear. 5 out of 5 for color. But I would rate it higher if I could.

Part Three: Formula

So this is honestly unlike any other lipstick I've ever worn. The formula was thin, but yet buttery at the same time? It dried very quickly, so quickly in fact that I was still applying to the top lip and the bottom lip was already dry, and only needed 1 swipe to cover my entire lips (and I don't have the thinnest lips out there). Once it dried down, it honestly felt like I was wearing nothing on my lips. They didn't feel dry or anything really, and I actually kept forgetting that I was wearing it. The best part though was that the color lasted 12+ hours, through breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks and looked just as bold and vibrant when I took it off as when I first put it on that morning. I didn't get a picture of how it looked after that time because it literally looked exactly the same. Hands down, the best formula I've ever tried. It's also nice that it's Vegan and Cruelty Free. Formula gets an astounding 5 out of 5.

Final Verdict:

This is 100% the best liquid lipstick I've ever put on my lips. The only problem is that this is the ONLY one they have. 1 color, how could they do this to me? I want this formula in every color possible and even though the color they offer is awesome, I'm disappointed that they don't have more. Maybe if enough people become excited about it, they might expand the range??? Here's to hoping.

February Lip Monthly Un-Bagging

Hello Lippie Lovers! I have an un-bagging for another monthly subscription that I receive! This one is called Lip Monthly and it is basically ipsy for Lippie Lovers! Is it good though? Check out the review below.

The Breakdown:

Price: $12.95 a month (Get your first month for $5 with the code LIPLOVER)

Ships: Around the same time as Ipsy, around the 10-15th of the month.

Arrives in: a plain manila envelope mailer. They used to have a great gold packaging that was similar to ipsy, but the last 2 months have been a plain one. (Maybe they aren't make any money)

Ok, so let's talk about what Lip Monthly promises before we review the bag itself.

Okay, so this is a screenshot of their webpage. So, so far, this has been true in the 4 months that I have received it. You do usually get 4-5 Products, and while they are all usually full sized, they are not always just lips products. I'll go into more detail on that later. As far as the retail prices, I agree, and you will see that below as well. Though, I will say that my 1st bag was for November 2015 and it had a retail cost of about $98, so that one had a lot going on.

Overall Bag Review: 

I can't say that I'm 100% happy with this month's bag. The bag itself is cute, I like the colors and the little roses for Valentine's Day, but as always with their bags, it smells like a brand new pool floaty (you know what smell I mean). So as their claims, we should received 4-5 Lip Products. Technically, only two of the products I received this month were even meant for lips. and the Harvey Prince body cream seems like something you would get at a hotel for free.

Product Reviews:

So I will leave the Berry tint and the NYC lipstick for full reviews as these are really the only full on lip products that I got to be able to even give full reviews on.  But, I will talk a little bit about them anyway.

Seraphine Berry Tint: This has on the product that it is a tint for lips and cheeks. Um, no. There is no way this would work on anyone's cheeks. This is a full on matte liquid lipstick.

NYC Expert Lip Color: It's a drugstore brand lipstick, that much is totally find with me, I love find new products that are affordable, but this color. Honey child it is full on 80's metallic pink lipstick. I'm going to try to make it work for a full review though. Wish me luck.

Prim Botanicals: So this one is kind of odd. It comes with two colors, a red and a berry. To me, the colors are too bold for the cheeks, but too sheer for the lips. But, I will say that the boldness of the color on the cheeks is in large part to my pasty white skin. Someone that has a deeper skin tone than I do (98% of the world) will probably love this as a cream blush. I will probably try to find someone better suited to wearing these colors. Also, $22? Um. No.

Harvey Prince: Why? What is the reason for this? This feels like a last minute, oh crap we need another product to put in the bag kind of addition. The smell is horrible and it is way too greasy. It never fully absorbs into the skin, leaving it all gross. I do not like. Eww.

That's it. Not very good huh? Needless to say, I have not had the best bags with Lip Monthly lately, but I'm going to give them at least another shot. We will see how I feel about them after the March bag.
